The Cable News Network, more commonly known by the name CNN, was founded by Ted Turner. Just two decades after its founding, the news network broadcast to over 100 million households and 890,000 hotel rooms.

CNN was the first channel to ever have 24-hour television news coverage. It was also the first television channel in the United States to only cover news. The American channel is also available around the globe through its counterpart, CNN International.
