CNN launches its CNN en Espanol, a 24-hour Spanish speaking news station in the United States

Cable News Network (CNN) was first launched in 1980. The main purpose was to air news on a 24-hour basis to inform the public about what was going on in the world at large. By having CNN only in English it restricted their audience. They limited their audience with the language barrier and they chose to make a change.

On March 17th 1997, CNN launched its CNN en Espanol, a 24-hour Spanish speaking news station in the United States. They enlarged their audience spectrum with the addition of CNN en Espanol.

Ever since the launch of CNN en Espanol they have expanded their horizons and now have CNN Mexico as well.
