Chicago Bulls Sign Michael Jordan

There may not be a more iconic man in sports than Michael Jordan.  In his college career, Jordan showed flashes of greatness being named to two NCAA All-American first teams and winning the NCAA championship in 1982.  His college success made him a clear choice for the Chicago Bulls who had the 3rd overall pick in the 1984 draft.

On this day, September 12th in 1984, the Chicago Bulls sign their number one draft pick, Michael Jordan. Jordan became a dominant player immediately and recorded 28.2 ppg and 52.5% shooting his rookie year.  Jordan went on to take international fame that year and was recognized as a fan favorite across the country.

In his rich career, Jordan captured six world championships and made the number 23 synonymous with dominance, skill and determination. Jordan would go on to lead the league in scoring a record 10 times, won five regular season MVP awards and six Finals MVP awards. Many would argue that Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time.
