The body of Charlie Chaplin is found after two men had taken it and attempted to extort money from the family.

Beloved silent film actor Charlie Chaplin passed away on December 25, 1977 while in his sleep. Known for his role in The Tramp and for his slapstick comedy, Chaplin left his mark in the comedy. Since he was of such fame some people thought they could use that to their advantage.

On May 17th 1978, the body of Charlie Chaplin is found after two men had taken it and attempted to extort money from the family. These men had stolen his corpse in March and had it for about eleven weeks with them, but their plan failed. The men were caught and his body was recovered.

Once recovered his corpse was reburied, and to make sure he would not be disturbed again, instead of using dirt the family used cement.
