Canada and the US have been great allies over the years.  This mutually beneficial relationship has been thriving for hundreds of years.

On this day, January 2nd, in 1872 – Canada and the US first shared telegraphed weather reports.    The event occurred in Ottawa, Ontario.

By sharing data – both nations could do a better job at notifying their citizens of future weather which could cause harm or danger to others. And as data was shared between the two nations – each nation was able to get more accurate information out to the public in a more timely fashion.
