The studio album “Barbra Streisand…And Other Musical Instruments” is released

Barbara Streisand is an actress, singer, director, and film producer who has won two Academy Awards, eight Grammy Awards, and five Emmy Awards.  She is one of the most successful entertainers out there, having more than 140 million albums sold worldwide, also making her the best-selling female artists on the RIAA Top Selling Artist List.

It was on this day, November 2, 1973, that her studio album “Barbra Streisand…And Other Musical Instruments” was released.  The songs were a compilation of her best-known tracks and other songs mixed with odd and eclectic musical accompaniments.  Although the album is the lowest-selling of her career and was a failure commercially, it did take the #64 spot on U.S. charts.

Despite the failure of her album, Streisand has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame three times.  In 2011, the Grammy Foundation honored her as MusiCares Person of the Year and is one of the few entertainers to have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award in their lifetime.
