After thirty years of Austrian occupation, Austria annexes Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia & Herzegovina is bordered by Croatia to the north, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast, making it almost entirely landlocked, except for the 12 mile coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Bosnia & Herzegovina is often simply called Bosnia, and this place of diverse geography also has evidence of having been inhabited as far back as the Neolithic age.

On this day October 6th, in 1908, Austria annexes Bosnia & Herzegovina after 30 years of occupation.

In 1878 Austria-Hungary was given control over Bosnia during the Congress of Berlin. There was some resistance to the new ruler from the Bosnians, but according to Austro-Hungarian officials within a few years there were social reforms implemented which helped to make Bosnia a more progressive country.
