Archie Griffin Heisman Award Twice

Archie Griffin had a minimally productive six year career with the Cincinnati Bengals, but in college he was one of the most dominant players to ever play.  While at Ohio State Griffin ran for a record total of 5,589 yards and scored 26 touchdowns.

On this day, December 2nd, in 1975, Ohio State running back Archie Griffin became the first player to win the Heisman Trophy twice. After finishing fifth in voting his sophomore year, Griffin took the Heisman trophy his junior year with a 1,620 rushing yard season.  His dominance as college’s best player continued in 1975, as he earned the trophy with 1,357 rushing yards.

In his college career, Griffin also became the first player to start in four Rosebowls. Archie Griffin is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
