Apple Creates Apple I Computer

Apple computers and laptops are currently owned by millions of consumers today and are enjoyed for their superior aesthetic qualities and computing power.  Before Apple became a name synonymous with computer innovation, the first Apple computer was the product of a computer enthusiast in California.

On this day, April 11th, in 1976, Apple demonstrated the Apple Computer or Apple I, Apple’s first product, in Palo Alto, California.  The computers were all hand built by Steve Wozniak, who also designed the product.  Wozniak partnered with Steve Jobs, who helped gather funds to sell the computer.  The Apple I went on the market in July 1976 and 200 unites were available at the price of $666.66.  The Apple I was an innovative hobbyist computer of its time and came with a fully assembled circuit board.  The success of the Apple I led to the release of the Apple II in April of the following year.

Apple has obviously grown to be one of the leading computer and software companies in the world and Apple I computers are still in existence today as highly valued  collectors items.  In 2010, an original Apple Computer reportedly sold for $213,000 in London.
