We all love watching special moments in Sports.  And when the PGA tour had a female golfer accept an offer to play in a PGA tournament, the sporting world was captivated.

It was on this day, May 22nd, 2003, that Annika Sorenstam accepted an offer to play in a men’s PGA tournament.  She was invited to play in the Bank of America Colonial golf tournament in Fort Worth, Texas.

There was notable controversy and backlash as several players felt that she shouldn’t be competing in men’s professional Golf.  She played good, but didn’t make the cut, as she finished 96th out of the 111 players who competed during the first two rounds.
