32nd Annual Emmy Awards held despite strike by members of the Screen Actors Guild

On this day, September 7th, in 1980, 51 members of the Screen Actor’s Guild boycotted the 32nd Annual Emmy Awards. They were displeased with their salaries and demanded a 32.25 percent increase. Powers Boothe was the only nominated actor out of the 52 that did not boycott and did attend the ceremony. The strike lasted a month and the adamant protesters received a wage increase.
