Kordell Steward Hail Mary Pass to Mike Westbrook

It has long been known that college football provides a different kind of excitement for spectators than professional football.  College football is more likely to witness a spectacular last second play or upset and through the years there have been an endless list of examples.  In times where the improbable happens, college football legends are made.

On this day, September 24th, in 1994, Colorado quarterback, Kordell Stewart threw a 74-yard Hail Mary pass to Mike Westbrook in the end zone to beat the University of Michigan.  Colorado was trailing 26-21 in the final seconds of the game, but never lost hope with their emerging star quarterback.

Stewart’s Hail Mary pass will always be remembered by college sports fans, but it was not Kordell Stewart’s only accomplishment. Stewart would go on to have a ten year NFL career, including a Pro Bowl appearance and an AFC Offensive Player of the Year award.
