The Byrds record their hit “Mr. Tambourine Man”

The Byrds, a Los Angeles folk-rock band, blended acoustic music with 60’s pop, and the unique mesh of melodies led to decades of hit singles. After meeting Bob Dylan, The Byrds got the opportunity to reproduce one of his songs “Mr. Tambourine Man.” The band kept the same lyrics but added a spice of flavorful rock rhythm.

On this day, January 20th, in 1965, The Byrds recorded their hit single “Mr. Tambourine Man.” This single topped the charts at #1 for the best folk-rock song of the 60’s. The musical spices of the 12-key electric guitar and solid backbeat established the folk-rock phenomenon of the 60’s.

Also, the remake of Bob Dylan’s song influenced The Beatles next up-tempo, folk-rock song called “Rubber Soul.”
